wonderful essay, Paul. Provocative, and therefore thought-provoking. I don't know what I enjoyed more, the words or the photos. I guess both, together, they are too tightly intertwined. I love your "roughhouse" approach to street photography even though it is indeed different from mine. I wanted to take issue with your dismissal of Bresson-Winogrand-Erwitt-documentary photography (which by the way is not really documentary at the core) but I saw that insteps already did it for me, so I'll just second it :). Besides I suspect it was only a half-joking dismissal, after all.
