Day one - Coal Countryby xXxscarletxXxComment: Desat brought me right to your subject. Very nice image and flow with the tracks! May be my monitor, but upper corners look like curves got out of control there and caused some banding of greyscale. |

Day 1by karmatComment: Really familiar with this view (and the smell) having grown up in Rumford, ME where at the time the Boise Cascade plant was the largest operation under one roof - in the world!
A great capture and nice choice of using lower third for factory with the detail in the sky putting it in it's environment. It does not 'feel' like an anti-pollution statement, but rather a character study of a town's main employment center. |

Side Houseby jdannelsComment: Good Lord! Apocalyptic. I like the dark tone here and the grain/noise level that lends a film noir feel to this. The low angle creates an extra distortion that also unbalances the viewer - really nice job. |

Day-1 The Famous Dayton Courthouseby TCGuruComment: I like the work here. Makes it look like a postcard that should be sold in the gift shop of the landmark. I agree with exposure here, although the sky is blown out, it seems that the colors here are somewhat murky, but that could simply be due to weather.
An Idea:
In PS, create a duplicate layer and set this layer to SCREEN.
Press ALT and the mask icon to change the layer to a black mask.
Set your paint brush to 11% opacity and White Color.
Now paint over the building until you pull the color out of it (Dodging/lightening the areas.)
(This can be done on over exposed areas as well - if they have detail, using the Multiply option to Burn) |

Day 1 - Where I Workby SweetlittlepixieComment: Hi Jane.
This is a nice shot for stock use. A little on the low light side, but can see that you were trying to use the natural light in the room. Perhaps a tripod with a long exposure and small f-stop to get the 'blur' factor out and make things nice and sharp while still giving you more light.
The low light has caused some noise in the shadowy areas, but not a real big deal here. Thanx for sharing your work space with us. |
