I don't know if any of you realize but this is the reason you are not taught evolution in school as fact. :) I decided to put the sign in because you gotta read it :) Enjoy!

History! Is there anything that DPC can't teach you? :)

There's some good advice in earlier comments about the courthouse shot, but I think that I would have just rotated a bit and converted to B&W.

well done, very interesting to see where it actually happened.

I like this, and will leave the courthouse image comments to those below, which cover it well (I learned quite a bit); on the other part of the imgae, I would have liked a bit more of the sign (so I could properly see all the images) or a bit less (so I see no edges at all); the first might have been impractical due to the background (too bright), and maybe without any edges it would look out of context. Just an idea to try.

Great image and thanks for the history lesson. Maybe in B&W the building might look more impressive against the sky.

I like that you included the historical marker along with the photo

nice historic shot. As for the tight crop on the courthouse I would have liked to see more

Nice to get a bit of history with a nice photo. Thanks for the lesson. I'll have to steal the idea from you and do the same ... I'll wait a dozen days or so.

A year later, the Tennessee Supreme Court reversed the decision of the Dayton court on a technicality--not the constitutional grounds as Darrow had hoped. According to the court, the fine should have been set by the jury, not Raulston (the Judge). Rather than send the case back for further action, however, the Tennessee Supreme Court dismissed the case. The court commented, "Nothing is to be gained by prolonging the life of this bizarre case."

The Scopes trial by no means ended the debate over the teaching of evolution, but it did represent a significant setback for the anti-evolution forces. Of the fifteen states with anti- evolution legislation pending in 1925, only two states (Arkansas and Mississippi) enacted laws restricting teaching of Darwin's theory.

yeah! As I get older I'm becoming a fan of History and and historical sites so I was hoping to see some in this challenge.

I like that tower, makes for an interesting subject.

Suggestions for improvement (IMHO): I agree with the other comments on the sky. The only other thing would maybe be a little wider angle. I'd like to see a bit more of the building and landscaping.

That is a very neat building and I like the sign that was interesting and very educational.

Thanks for sharing a bit of history with this photo. Very interesting. I agree that this looks like a postcard that would be sold in the giftshop.

I like the work here. Makes it look like a postcard that should be sold in the gift shop of the landmark. I agree with exposure here, although the sky is blown out, it seems that the colors here are somewhat murky, but that could simply be due to weather.

An Idea:
In PS, create a duplicate layer and set this layer to SCREEN.
Press ALT and the mask icon to change the layer to a black mask.
Set your paint brush to 11% opacity and White Color.
Now paint over the building until you pull the color out of it (Dodging/lightening the areas.)
(This can be done on over exposed areas as well - if they have detail, using the Multiply option to Burn)

nice diptich, an interesting landmark. maybe try metering more towards the light in the sky and then bringing up the exposure of the building in PP so it is not so blown out.
