don't look backby BrennanOBComment: most of the time, the difference between a good shot and a great shot is how it's cropped. this is a little league shot that needs a big league crop. great colors, great perspective, wonderful moment, nice composition, and, too, too, too much wasted space that distracts from your subject. crop down to just above the kid's glasses, crop into the arms, crop up to the bottom of the ball, and WOW - a completely different image! |

The Passby rooumComment: i get the idea, but the execution looks more accidental than purposeful. it's like you knew what you wanted but the camera had a different plan. |

The Agony of Defeatby LydiaComment: i get your idea, but it would have been much, much more effective if your subject had at least been making an effort... |

Harvard University Crewby DeniseComment: sorry, but this is boring. it's a snapshot of a crew team. if you want to score better, you need to show me something i'm not going to see from the riverside. either use a longer lens to take me all the way out there, or go down to the dock and get some close up action. nice colors, and maybe a nice print, but not a high-scorer at dpc... |

Free Kickby kvartanovComment: nice moment, bad crop. if you had cropped out all the wasted space at the bottom, top, and on the left, you'd have a much more dynamic shot. you can take a little league shot and put a big league crop on it and wind up with images that look tons better than what any of the other parents are taking. you might also want to lower your perspective down to the player's level, so that it doesn't look like you're shooting down on them. |

Schoolmaster and studentby snafflesComment: sorry, but the reason this isn't scoring well is that it looks like a photo anybody with a decent camera could take. the key to scoring better is to put that camera to work, trying to capture images that not just anybody could take. |

A helping handby hajekaComment: excellent moment, but has too much wasted space. should have cropped down to the top of the girl reaching down and over to the feet of the girl on the ground. you could also possible benefit from shooting from a lower perspective. |

League Nightby ltlmschrisssComment: why? why didn't you take the camera up to the first seat and gone after the same type shot, but actually capture someone rolling the ball? as is, it's more of an environmental shot than an action shot. great idea, though. |
