Interesting idea - nice effect to use tungsten lighting. The shallow DoF makes it a bit difficult to read - and the bright spots in the background draw unnecessary attention.

A very nice habit to have! Good exposure and capture of the action. The girl model does look like there's some Adrenalin flowing. Composition a bit weak with the front of the boat cut off.

White knuckles and you're sitting still? Great idea and indeed a nasty habit. Your image is at least ORIGINAL unlike a vast majority of the entries! Lighting is superb, exposure right on. May be a bit more effective if it weren't quite so centerd. A real grabber would be if the brake lights on the gray car were brightly on.

Wonderful sunset and silhouettes. It's almosy 3-dimentional with the close figure and the far one. Very nice seeing.

A very interesting image - mysterious. Very nice macro - nice depth. Border doesn't help for me.

Very simple and effective. Composition very nice with the "noodles" weaving their way around. The border is a bit heavy - and the thin white line merges with the white of the image in a few spots. It would look better without the white line - or perhaps withot a border at all. Having said all that - it's far and above all the poorly done "bad habits" that were submitted!

Superb lighting, action, exposure, expression. Not sure I'd call it a "habit" but it's close enough for me! Sure hope others don't deducts points for not meeting the challenge. Composition may be a wee bit too centered, but that's a gnat. Overall - WAY better than most of the submissions. It should finish VERY high.

Exceptionally ORIGINAL take on the challenge. A breath of fresh air when compared to the multitude of nail biting images!
Excellent composition, focus, lighting. The only thing I would suggest to improve the image is a very dark colored "pillow" (or whatever her head is on). The current color is close enough to the skin tone that it doesn't make much contrast. That's a VERY minor point with no points deducted - but a way to make it "sing" just a little louder.

Hi Amanda and * Greetings from the Critique Club *

Yes - it's definitely a new style of self portrait - very original.

It's ironic, but your image finished right next to mine in the challenge.

Note that even the commenters who didn't rate the image high had an emotional reaction. That means the image is a success - as it should be.

It is very creative - even the way you elected to write the text: font, text size, positioning and boldness.

The "printing" is just a tiny bit less contrasty that I'd like, perhaps because the backgroud is such a middle value. Did you try a very dark background? Note how well the image looks in the bottom right corner with the dark background next to the ball of your left foot.

Compositionally - it's near perfect but perhaps a bit crowded on the left, right, and bottom.

As you know - these are just "one man's opinion" on how you might take an already great image and make it even better. Thanks for sharing it - and I hope the magic marker wasn't that hard to remove.

-Tom-

PS: I really loved your entry in Abstract!

Great time of day - nice lighting. The hint of wind with small ripples in the water make the texture terrific.
