Challenge: Habits (Basic Editing I)
Collection: Good - Average
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Easton, CT
Date: May 18, 2004
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/60
Date Uploaded: May 18, 2004

My original thought was to paint a face like a clown and have a selection of red foam balls for "Picking Your Nose," but a lack of time and suitable props conspired against me. Next choice was a steaming metal chain for "Chain Smoking." This was Plan C, and I'm sure I'll get killed anyway by the more literal-minded for not meeting the challenge. I just hope enough people appreciate the humor that I'm not totally embarrassed.

This shot was taken with the kit lens and 420ex flash with Sto-Fen diffuser. Cropped, rotated, USM, levels and the yellow channel was adjusted overall a bit.

Nicely shot - well framed, I like the skin tones and though it's slightly overexposed on her cheeks, I dont' mind it because it gives us the bright glint in her eye. It looks like she was having fun, which is sometimes the hardest thing of all to shoot.

The cutest nail biting shot of the lot. The light is a little hard for my liking, but a great expression and fun feeling in this image.

I definitely prefer this to all the "fingernail biting" pics in this challenge. The use humor is way easier to take and way more fun. 10

I love it. Very clever interpretation of the topic, and a nice portrait besides. If you want to polish this image a bit once the challenge is over, you might consider cooling the hotspots on the model's cheek and nose.

Love the idea. I would of given a higher rating if the eyes were in focus too.

I think a clos eup of the mouth woudl emphasize the topic even more. Great expression on the girl's face!

Exceptionally ORIGINAL take on the challenge. A breath of fresh air when compared to the multitude of nail biting images!
Excellent composition, focus, lighting. The only thing I would suggest to improve the image is a very dark colored "pillow" (or whatever her head is on). The current color is close enough to the skin tone that it doesn't make much contrast. That's a VERY minor point with no points deducted - but a way to make it "sing" just a little louder.

Ahhhh, finally some creativity! Well done. Lighting is a bit harsh. Bouncing the flash would make it better. 8

Very Funny! Great expression. I think the flash cast kind of a harsh light on this picture, though.
