Challenge: Centered Composition (Advanced Editing II)
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: Washington, DC
Date: May 10, 2004
Aperture: f2.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/125

Date Uploaded: May 11, 2004

Taken around 7:30 pm, with the sunset at my back, with a tripod at the edge of the reflecting pool. This was one of the last shots; the wind picked up out of the south and ruined the reflections utterly. The nerve!

Bumped shadows and highlights (wow do I love Photoshop CS); cloned out a construction crane using the healing brush; fixed a slight vignette from my lens at the upper corners of the sky.

Great time of day - nice lighting. The hint of wind with small ripples in the water make the texture terrific.

This is a nice shot. I like the reflection. It's a bit contrasty. This shot is horizontally centered but the challenge specified dead center, which in this shot would be somewhere around the strip of lawn---not the main visual element. I gave this a five.

I like! You chose the right time of the day, nice light. Too many people here pay no attention to the quality of the light. 10

Either you did a good job of cloning out the cranes or they are gone, which I find hard to believe... Love the shot tho. 7
