Sin Tituloby epescalaComment: Great capture, I like the unusual position of the duck, but your metering is a little off. It's a shame the eye is so shadowed as that is naturally where your attention is drawn to most wildlife shots and speaking to this photograph specifically, the composition leads your eye there first. I can understand it's a tricky shot to meter as you have absolute blacks and almost absolute whites, however the bill or the lighter parts of the water would have been a good place to spot meter and then focus back on the eye. Tricky to do as quick as would have been needed to shoot a live animal though! |

Selasphorus Rufusby BeckyTComment: The colour in this photo is just stunning, the DOF and the detail on the bird near perfect. What a difficult photo to take and you have done it well. The angle and position of the bird is a little odd, but given the difficulty of shooting birds I can understand why. I think it is an interesting photo, and it definitely grabs your attention, partially because it is so unique. In this case the odd works for you! |

Connectedby HighNoonerComment: Great focus and composition. The only thing I find distracting is the shadows on the hands and her sweater. Adding just a little bit of under light, or some closer to your right side would have eliminated much of this strong shadowing. It distracts from her hands, and given that is where her focus is, it makes you look there first as well. |

Green tealsby snafflesComment: I'm curious as to why you chose to go the B&W route? I think the green on the wings would have been great to see in this shot. I also think as a B&W the overall exposure is a little too dark, the white on the wings leaps out at you because it is blown out, but the actual ducks sorta blend. |

Tongue of Fireby J-MeComment: I like the composition, the use of colour and light. The unfortunate detail for me is that it looks like your focus was more on the front foot area of the dragon and not so much on his head. A tricky shot because of the macro nature of it, but I would have focused on his eye, made that area sharp, and let the flame be a burst of light to the side as it is now. |

The Frozen Lakeby salmiakkiComment: There are some really interesting elements to this picture that cause your eye to roam around the image and take it all in. Between the tree silhouette, the people, the sun and the smoke tower, there is a lot going on. However, if you take any one of the four out, I think the picture would have a lot less impact. An unusual composition, but in this case I think it works. |

Double deerby redpandaComment: Great composition, almost looks like the start of a deer totem pole. It works, and adds a lot of interest to an already great capture. I think you have an excellent photograph here and you should be pretty darned pleased with yourself. |

Uprootedby goinskiingComment: I really, really like this shot and looked at it for quite a while. The composition is excellent, with the opposite angles of the roots and the hills behind. The snow is blown out and there isn't much detail there which sorta works, but I'm curious what a bit of detail might have done to the shot. The texture of the roots looks to be a little soft as well. Was this handheld? I'd love to see this one blown up as I think a much larger scale would enhance the beauty. Definitely not an easy shot to take outdoors in falling snow. |

The bridgeby thorb59Comment: Very nice. Great composition, the bridge really pulls your eye in and leads you to the gorgeous parts of the sky. The only change I would have made is to make the bridge a bit sharper, I think a harder line would have been a great contrast to the soft sky. Understandably that might have been tricky to do with this setting and still get the soft water / sky. |

Black-crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax)by SteveJComment: Excellent detail, not only is the heron perfectly captured but the love the fish right below his foot. The coloring of the background makes the bird pop. About the only thing I would have changed is the crop. I would have done a tight crop of the left side to his body and added some additional space on the right side. Effectively moving the bulk of the bird out of the center of the shot, but putting his stunning head in a better place and really emphasizing the angle of his beak. |
