Predatorby gotrondComment: Not enough info. To me low key doesn't mean a black picture with 30 pixels of info. Why not just add a 305 pixel border? |

Gritty intensityby paulb_17Comment: Nice exposure for a portrait. It has the normal range of tones one would expect to see. In a low key portrait the shadows would be more pronounced, deeper, moodier, with the highlights creating the form of the face. Sorta just the opposite of this. |

[ forgotten in colors ]by gocComment: The composition is interesting and most of the pixels in the frame are black. Black pixels alone do not make a good low key picture. I'd call this more high contrast. Your pixels within the area of interest are mostly light. This does have the potential to be low key, but there needs to be more tonality in the shadowed areas and less bright white. |

All Cozyby MisspavaComment: I think if the light fell across the face this would be much better. |

A Face In The Bitter Coldby TDCollinsComment: The colors look off. I kept looking at this and wondering why I was resisting liking it. It is well exposed and nostrils don't bother me as much as some other people, so that was ok. It's the lack of any visual clues as to him being in a "bitter cold" environment. He actually looks warm and comfortable.
I think this would be improved a lot as a duotone. |

thru the holeby ronragComment: low key is mostly about a mood. This picture does have a lot of dark pixels but the subject(the woman) is exposed normally, with none of the shadow play that makes low key so romantic. |

Another Black & White Entryby sir_bazzComment: Nice job on the exposure. Can't say I'm a fan of the puddle. Causes me to think of an accident. Sorry. That's probably not what the intended reaction was supposed to be. |

Secret Offeringby pineappleComment: Good exposure and I think the warm tone is very fitting to this image. The range of tones on the left makes it easy to see the hand and shell, but the right side is very confusing. I think it's because of the wide band of dark placed against the small band of light on the hand. |
