Dark Priestess of the Choirby magnetic9999Comment: I would have liked a solid dark background and a square format but it is a decent enough portrait with excellent lighting. There is a faint green tinge in her skin tone that could be easily corrected.
Is she the woodland fairy? I usually take off points when someone gives away their entry in the forums. It's not fair to the other people that try to keep their entries anon. magnetic9999? |

eak2_640.jpgby sp00fComment: Good job controlling the background light. Interesting that the lighting is soft. With a subject like this it might have seemed cliche to use direct hard lighting but this choice gives a whole other mood. It makes him approchable in spite of the tattoos covering his body. I like the pov also. All together, your choices created a good character study. |

Six O'Clock Shadowby ElemmennopeComment: One of the nice things about photography is we get another chance to get it right sometimes. Unless you live a long way away from where this was taken, you can always go back at another time and redo it. Some pros wait for years to take a good picture of a location they like. I think this one deserves another chance for all of the reasons you mentioned. |

Storm is Comingby dclarkeComment: I like this. I can almost see the light/rain rays coming down from the clouds. I think if you worked a little more with curves and dodging/burning, you would be able to bring them out even more. There's a really long one running down on the right side of the palm. |

Easy Lessonsby graphicfunkComment: I like this the best of all your women. She looks alert and smart. The way she is looking back makes me feel like I just walked into the room. Very comfortable.
edit. I just looked at the portraits. They are excluded form the above comment. Message edited by author 2004-07-17 19:57:36. |

Electric-Cross.jpgby dcanoComment: reminds me of a musical conductor. Pretty interesting. I think it would be more striking if the cloud formation was normal and not following the curve that was manipulated. |

The View of Decadesby LtHousLadyComment: HI. I was one of the givers of 5.
What I noticed about this is that the lights are too light. There seems to be a section on the value scale that is missing. Mostly in the mid to light grays. To me that made the picture seem both flat and harsh. I didn't mind the bench being so removed from the light house but the area between the two seems unattractive especially the section with the sign and whatever the wooden outline is. As for the border, I think the majority of voters on this site might knock off a point for it.
You have some fantastic lighthouse pictures that I'm sure anyone would be proud to have hanging on their walls. |
