Simplisticby digifotojoComment: Beautiful lines, contrast, color. It might benefit from greater DOF, as the point of sharpest focus is limited and appears to be in an area with little detail. At this close distance, it's really hard to get much depth without focus stacking. |

New Bloomby digifotojoComment: You've given us a "back-side" view - contrary to the typical pov - which emphasizes the overall shape rather than the internal color and line variations.
I'm trying to decide about the weighting of the subject at the bottom of the frame. Can you comment on your intent with this decision? |

Lights by GinaRothfelsComment: I'd like to see the histogram on this image! From total black to blown out whites. In this case, both are appropriate and necessary. The portions of the light that lack detail, shouldn't have any - like staring into the sun. This works well in composition and as an exploration of grayscale tonal range. Keep the theme! |

Interrupted Journeyby digifotojoComment: Your focus plane seems to be in just the right spot for this. Effective minimal image - I like the interplay of the soft graceful lines in the dandelion with the crunchy dried-out stem/leaves. |

P3023592 - SOOC comparison 1100pxlsby rozComment: The ART5/Grainy preset is interesting. I'd like to see what it does on a natively sharp image. Not sure that pre-set and the Lensbaby play well together. |

P3023714 - SOOC comparison 1000pxlsby rozComment: I'm really enjoying the minimal theme. To digress a bit, I know it can be controversial in challenges, but there's no question that shooting this way supports learning more about light and shadow for other "rulesets" and photo purposes. One one of the many things I like about my Fuji cameras is the ability to select presets AND modify certain aspects (highlight, shadow, noise) on top of the simulations.
I like the effect you ended up with from you Olympus on this shot, too! |

Palm Tree by GinaRothfelsComment: I'd agree with you that the tonal range is fairly flat, although well-exposed for shadow and highlight. Since I'm also working with mininal B&W for this SC, I'm quickly learning that what I see in the viewfinder and/or camera EVF is often not a good representation of what I'll see on the computer.
This is even true for the set-up I'm using which previews the B&W and tonal setting in the EVF. Lot's to learn. Glad I landed on this theme! |
