kyphotic Reflectionsby jagarComment: Even the pattern on his sweater shows right angles! Beautifully constructed image - were you super lucky or is there an up street sign saying ' Kyphotic gentlemen with crisscross style patterned sweaters this way please'?
(and then the stone work, the fence reflected from across the road and the paving slabs to boot...)
Amazing image - would've gotten a 10 from me had I been able to vote. Message edited by author 2011-11-14 03:22:48. |

Alone by gyabanComment: This deserves the Blue - I'm holding a very high score myself; but this is a better image. |

witness of the passby lobrinComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Simply stunning - candid portraits simply don't get better than this. Pristine focus and wonderful isolation of subject. I really like your toning too. His expression is priceless, but your capture is better.
Critical stuff: Just that fleck on his jacket lapel... I can see why you might want to keep it authentic though.
Overall: I hope this takes the Blue. It just might too. |

on the pitchby bspurgeonComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I love the dynamism of this image and how your high contrast handing turns their movements into brush strokes. This great abstraction - reducing the form and movement to its primary elements but in a way the distils rather than obscures the scene.
Critical stuff: Nope
Overall: Very well executed with a great end result. |

Marginalizedby MarfunComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Wonderfully measured image. You've got the luminosity of your frame just perfect - optimising the wonderful light. The soft grain too - so well judged. The hint of colour - perfect.
Critical stuff: Nothing at all
Overall: A portrait that goes beyond the capture of a face - you communicate much. Masterful and magnificent. |

of gambrels and days gone byby skewsmeComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: An image that seems to want to tell a story - like a point of view shot in a thriller, looking through an old screen as we hide - or a stalker in a favoured spot... I really like the way the pattern on the screen mirrors the roofline.
Critical stuff: It won't appeal to all - but I can't think of any critique that would be useful here.
Overall: Nicely seen, nicely made, nicely communicated. |
