 This picture was taken on the Bright Angel Trail in the Grand Canyon. The bird serenaded us for quite awhile- enough time for me to pull out the big lens and snap a bunch of shots. The background is the red canyon walls.

I did extensive post processing to this image. It was mostly just the usual stuff- levels, color balance, curves, saturation, but I carefully masked off the bird and branch so I could independently adjust the values for the foreground an background. I also applied a light gaussian blur to the background to remove noise and ran USM on the final, resized image.

You now, top 30 with so many entries is still pretty good. This image certainly belongs higher but I am sure that you are happy with it as it can adorn any portfolio. Good work.

Very nice detail on this bird and I like the composition a lot, with the branch leading across the frame. Nice Bokeh too! There's a tad bit of image noise in the background, but I don't find it too distracting.
