Alrighty - 16 contestants, but only ONE will become the next American Idol! one that I give my ten thousandth comment to...

I am going to do this lotto style. I will write the image numbers--- no wait, I will print out the thumbs and glue them onto ping pong balls and put them in a big pretzel barrel (like this one) and I'll walk to the top of my hill and roll it all the way down, chasing it with a stick in case it veers off course and when we get to the bottom, I'll open it up, reach in, grab one and look at the picture and decide if it is the one I want to comment on. If not, I'll grab another one and so on and so on. See, I'm like King Solomon when it comes to devising the most fair way to make important decisions like this.

Now I am off to the store to purchase 16 ping pong balls...

"No more for today!"

hahahhaa.

I actually checked my email first, and saw your comment on my New Canada and thought, "no way, that's not even a photo!!! I don't deserve that!"

So it's with a lightened heart that I see that you commented on everyone's and you're a real trooper and an irreplaceable part of DPC.

Rock on Wayne.

Oh! I missed this 10,000th comment contest.
But, Art, can I have a comment on this.

The picture didn't do too well on voting, yet I am attached to it
in some way. Any comment from you (or anyone else who is interested), will
help me to understand, if I am going the right way or if I am being too wishful.

Thanks!

Check the time stamp on the comment to see who really won. Or see what order they were given out in his comments made page. I know who got the true 10,000th comment. Do you?

What you don't know, is that Art Roflmao threatened to burn Langdon's village if he didn't scramble the order, so nobody will ever know.

I'm not Art but I think I would recognize him if I met him at a DPC get together. Here is the comment I left for you on your image.

I saw your request for a comment on Art's 10,000th comment thread. Here is my take. First, the post processing on the cross (B&W conversion, contrast) is nicely done. Two things hurt your score. First was the subject itself. The sand is not the main focus of the image no matter what your title implies. Plus, fun cheerful images score better than this type of image. Second, the background is extremely distracting. If you cropped out the top 1/2 to 2/3 of the image (giving it a landscape orientation instead of portrait), the size and placement of the cross makes for a stronger composition.
