This is a picture of Mt Whitney taken from the town of Lone Pine. It was taken at dusk so it was dark in town with the sun setting behind the mountains. Camera movement blurred the shop lights in the foreground.

Thanks for the comments.

Interesting... so many different comments.

My favorite part is how the upper right merges with the border.

I really like this... and as I said, I'm not an abstract kinda gal.

Well done.

I came back to this repeatedly because I loved the thumbnail (sounds patronizing, but it's not), but to be honest on closer (larger) inspection I found the hard lines a bit jarring. If it were on my wall I'd take a big smudge thumb to it and fall in love with it. Just one man's opinion.

But know this photo made an impact and got at least this person to think for quite a bit.

A fantastic painting. My only dislike is how the top right corner merges with the border. 8

I kind-of like the abstractness of this, and don't like it at the same time. I think a complete fill-the-frame with no white jaggies or corners and without the white frame would work better.

Beautiful composition. The essence of abstract, in my personal opinion.

Daring stuff for "Best of the year"... hard to judge it against all the high-quality figurative entries. Not voting.

interesting abstract, not my cup of tea, however.

As I sit here and look at this (have been for about two minutes) I can't decide if I love it or just like it. The thing that bothers me the most are the two prominent orange lines at the bottom....I do wish they were removed....it would soften the image into an abstract landscape...which I do like. For some reason they make the image seem sloppy to me. Yes, this is just my opinion....but I do overall like it, I think it could have had more impact without those orange lines. Anyway....I give you a solid 7.

Interesting effect. Looks as if it's been printed on tissue paper.

The bright colors make this one of the more interesting abstracts.

Seems weirdly suitable, and certainly a blessed relief from all those meticulously anal Ansel Adams style mountain pictures. Thank you. 7.

Sorry but not at all a fan of abstract photography, they just donĀ“t appeal to me personally and I normally vote 1-3 but I gave this a 4, at least I like the colors in this one. Just explaining the low vote, thought you deserved at least that.

Oh. I hate it when someone convinces me to love an abstract. *grin*

You did.
