For many this would not represent hope but for a Zimbabwean in these times their greatest hope is to be able to hold on to what they have worked for all their lives and not have it taken away. This photo was taken on one of the few 'white' farms left in this country and is a symbol of hope for those who remain.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Hello, Di. I'd first like to say that this photo seems a little bit grainy. It doesn't seem to be an artistically added grain but a color grain which should not really result from a camera such as the 10D. This might have happened due to a bad JPEG compression which, depending on your photo editing software, can be fixed (PM me if you would like help).

Otherwise...I find the photo fairly uninteresting. It is underexposed and the reflection adds some interest, but there is a lack of a focal point. There is nothing that stands out as the actualy subject of the image. I read your comment, and I now understand your concept of hope. Unfortunately, I believe that your title led us to believe that the hope was in the trees for they were mirrored, hence Mirrored Hope. Without a focal point, the idea of hope isn't conveyed obviously so a stronger title may have resulted in a higher score.

As far as this goes for you, I think it is a try again next time situation. Good luck.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to PM me.

Lee

Doesn't convery hope to me, seems more desolate or dreary. But that doesn't mean I don't like the picture, which I do. Cool reflections in the water

What are we hoping for?

Nice composition but has a lot of noise.

Looks a bit grainy or OOF, IMHO, think it would be nicer without the noise

struggling to make the connection to hope, except in the title. Nothing in the image makes me feel hopeful, though I do like the reflections

I hope to comment on this later...quick version:

Focus is too soft for my taste
Composition seems unplanned (stick in middle at top, reflection of subject is cut off)
I don't really see hope in this picture.

I do not like challenge titles in the title of pictures.
