Within this desert sea with shifting sands
are stone sentinels who stand silent and grand.
Wind, rain, sun, and time paint these rocks.
Look close at the brushstrokes to see earth's epochs.
Absolutely beautiful - love the lines the undulate in the sand. The desert rock and stone sentinels in the foreground are nature's beauty at such a grand scale it just makes you feel small and takes your breath away. |

| A classic "Arizona" magazine shot. I've always loved the color in this area, and the almost-purple sky gives a nice contrast to the orange rocks. Nice texture in the sand foreground. |

| Really nice combination of desert elements here. I like the sands and the hoodoos, with the cliff faces in the background. The desert trifecta. Your hoodoos seem to maybe have some slight haloing going on. |

| Overcast in the desert is quite something. Great compo colour and imo a ribbon contender. I'll follow with interest where it's placed. Good luck. My own entry is totally out of the running and I am sitting back and comment on the entries to see if I can pick the winner. |
