 Our rats are incredibly loving animals, they adore a cuddle and they groom us/play with us like they do each other; if you really want to feel like your company is genuinely appreciated, get rats, lol. The rat in this shot is Dione, she wouldn't play ball at first with my idea of getting her to affectionately lick my fella John's hand, she and the others do it often but it seemed that she was refusing while the camera was out, haha. She was finally doing it in this shot but her tongue isn't really visible, I still think it's cute though. Dione has been such a trooper lately despite a nasty tail injury just before xmas, it's finally healed up and she's all better, my poor little sausage.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Love the rattie's posture and catchlight in the eye as she tenderly grooms her co-owner. Good use of b/w and the gentleness of the hands shows through; don't need to see a face to see that this is a loving and mutual relationship. Lighting is very good, comp is a little on the safe side but this finished 20th, so not that objectionable :-) I was a little puzzled by the squiggly thing but realize now it must be Dione's tail. Glad to see that it healed well! Keep up the good work.

I love the idea of this... and the sharpness of the hamster/rat and the hands. I lacks something though... More contrast, for sure... and maybe a bit of a crop off the left side to make it more intimate.

Nice photo, what I like about this is how the hands do the work of showing the person's emotion. I don't need to see the face to know this pet is loved.
