I'm a big fan of the overtly dramatic landscape paintings of Bierstadt, Turner, and folks like them. I really wanted to capture that sense of overblown, romanticized, larger-than-life, florid, in-your-face excitement, which is, you see, exactly how I felt standing there when I made this image.

Some of you "got" it; most of you didn't :-(

Terrific scene, Bear, but I think you overdid it with the processing, too.

Cant Believe this finished so low, really underappreciated in this challenge. I loved this during. Sorry it didnt place higher.

I like the painterly feel to this. I didn't notice the waterfall at first so it was a nice surprise to come across it as my eyes were wandering over this photo. A real beauty!

A bit too much surrealism for my taste.

Way over HDR'd. Would like to see a more realistic version.

A great scene with menacing clouds.

This is a nice picture to look into. The clouds might be just a little overdone.

Yosemite is one of my favorite places on earth. I really like this tunnel view....it is so grand. The processing is way over done for my taste, however you did a great job with the DOF. I can see all the way to the back of the park.

This was, no doubt, an incredible sight to behold. I do like the composition, but in fact the processing is so over the top that it pretty much ruins it for me. It's become a caricature of itself.

Nice composition and subject matter though way too over-processed for my taste.

Wow! Breathtaking! Love the textures in the clouds and mountains. It is especially interesting that the trees along the right side still have a coat of snow, the those in the valley and to the left don't - differences in shadows & sunlight. The sky is incredible.

Excellent image, and the processing evokes the power of nature well.

This is a very nice scene. I really think the processing is a little overdone. I would love to see this a little toned down

This is a really nice shot. Very dramatic. My only qualm is that the clouds may have been overly burned in. A bit overworked. Would have worked really well as a painting!

A stormy challenge, thankfully they are all clearing! This has a very strong three dimensional feel. One of these must be Bear, but I'm not certain this is it. I hope you enjoyed your trip.

Excellent image and composition. Love the processing. Hoping to see this on the front Page. There are many of this vista, but its the best in the challenge. Great work. 10

really great light and clouds - but i do not like the processing at all

This is too over processed to me. As one who frequently spends summers in yosemite and frequently enjoys this view, I think a lighter hand would have done it more justice.
I do admire the dramatic clouds, and it is nevertheless a nice picture. 7

I found it hard to find a focal point in this shot, with the sweep of trees, chunks of rock and thick cloud, it's like it's simple but too much at the same time. Not sure if that's entirely a bad thing though as it did make me study the image; it is well-composed, the moody sky looks great and the scenery itself is gorgeous. It is a very good shot generally.

A superb HDR image. I love the forest, mountains, waterfall and dusting of snow. The clouds will be too overcooked for the average DPC voter. But, I love the detail and think this should finish at 7 for you. 10

What a beautiful vista! IMO over-processed clouds are fighting with the nicely processed foreground!

I would have liked this a whole lot better without the over-the-top HDR treatment. Can't wait to go there someday.

Sorry but in my opinion the post processing is just destroying what could have been a very good image, it´s just WAY over the top for my taste.
