About where I expected it to place. Plenty of people loved it and saw the same implied story that I did. Plenty of others just saw a quick 5 and nothing special. Can't please 'em all.

Ditto. I loved this and gave it a 9, shame it didn't place higher. One of not many with a tangible story to it (I felt.)

I enjoyed this image very much, for the immediate emotional response on seeing it. Therefore a huge success. Did not even faintly thought it could be you, style-wise.

Sorry, I didn't commment on this earlier. I went back and looked at this photo several times. It's really unusual and wonderful.

She waits for love to arrive
but stays locked behind the fence.
Her chains link together shielding
from any hurt or harm.
But love never ventured
far from the gate,
withers as a flowering vine
that has not been watered.

The overall mood of the composition speaks sadness to me. The processing and focus is very artsy in that it is a thought provoking portrait. She waits behind the fence and there is that flowering vine that is all withered. Because she is behind the fence and unsmiling it invoked the thought that while she awaits love and affection but she shields herself from hurt and harm by erecting a chainlink fence. Because she never ventures far from her mental barriers meant to protect love dies on the vine.

Oooh love this classic look. The intertwining dead vine adds an interesting element.

(Participant so not voting.)

Down memory lane with a perfect DoF and focus and composition. The only bother is the obvious not horizontal frame behind her. That hand with the ring tells a story all by itself!

I do wish I could see her face more.....she looks like a very interesting and beautiful woman. The focus is on the dead flowers....and I am not sure why? Sometimes I do understand that images are vague and the viewer interpets them as she/he sees. I am having a difficult time interpreting the story here though.

There are so many nice things to say about this. Love the vine on the fence, ring on her left hand, the old-fashioned looking haircut. Having her behind the fence implies that she is captive because of what (who) she is waiting for. The vine implies hope, and yet her expression is not worried - she has every hope that the one she waits for will come - she just does not know when. There's probably more, but this image is art, and deserves to be hanging in a galley. The only nit is that the double earrings do not seem to match (period-wise) the rest of her look.

I'm not crazy about the white hazy vignette but this is a very interesting image. Nice focus on the fence and those little leaves, the way they curl around the wire is akin to the ring curling around her finger; the image feels solemn, which makes me wonder about why she is there. Is her fiance coming, is she merely wearing a ring in hope that someone will one day come, is she standing at the gate to a cemetary where her deceased fiance is interred? Sorry for the arty farty ramble, haha; your shot just really made me ponder. Great job.

b/w works well here, as is the soft processing. the high key delivers a sense of heat (supported by the withered plant). hope she doesn't wait for too long.
