 Image of my son taken in our basement. EV -2. Used two 500 watt lamps with tissue paper as difusion from high left side. Cropped very little, changed to grayscale, and darkened using levels in Photoshop Elements. No sharpening.

I had seen this image while glancing through challenges from the past, and I have remembered it. This is a great image and conveys something deeper than the visual. I consider this successful photography. Julia

I love the strong shadows in this photo. The lighting is very dramatic, but not so much that the texture of the skin is lost. The composition is great.

The hand on the bottom looks deformed the way it is posed. The way the shadow is on the face it makes the nose look deformed also. A little too dark. Personally don't think with hands as subject you should have cropped part of the left hand off. Would bea 4 in my book. PTL

Excelent shot. Great use of exaggerated lighting/shadows. I think that the lighting on the fingers of the left hand (our left) is just a small bit too bright, however, lighting on the rest of the photo is great. Focus and clarity are wonderful. Definately an emotive piece. Angle and framig/cropping really help the mood here. Good luck in the challenge.

I like the pose, I like the lighting, but the contrast is a bit harsh. If the contrast was a bit softer I think it would look a bit better. I really like the crop everything is positioned really well. Good job :)

this is a perfect image for black and white. I'm really glad that i'm seeing more monochromatic and duotoned images in the members challenges... great shot :) - setzler - BTW, congrats on your POTD at bestfoto :)
