Heading for the ocean in the annual Polar Bear Plunge: Water temperature mid-40's, air temperature mid-40's -- A mild day, and a huge turnout of several hundred brave foolhardy souls.

Per request, here are the layers, and a second screen shot with only base layer (what I imported from RAW) revealed. Both these may be viewed at full size.

Isn't a polar bear plunge supposed to be a bunch of old, fat guys? A couple of those people DO NOT fall in that category. Nice shot Robert.

This is a very cool shot. I love looking through all the faces and seeing the expressions. I'm particularly amused by the guy in the hat. The guy with the megaphone is a brave one. Congrats on winning the yellow!

GREAT job on posting your processing steps Bear_Music. I have not been all that active with this site for a while but view it every now and then. What I notice a lot is multiable ribbon winners placing the N/A comment never giving other photographers a view into the process they utilize to win the ribbon. Congrats to you !!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTG Bear, now don't go getting in the same rut as Lev will you, excellent and refreshing shot, glad to see it here.

I love the novelty of this in the top. Something other than the run of the mill nonsense is refreshing, nice to see.
The PP seems a little strong, with the skin looking a bit synthetic, but it almost feels synthetic and similar to a comic, which works with the photo.

Maniacs is right, lol. They had one here in Seattle too, (an other cities, I guess). I said to myself, "No way would I ever do that"...but I might just go next year to take photos.

Great photo, especially with the expressions captured

Although I do see more "focus on a goal" than "celebration", I really love this image and the processing, Robert.

Congrats on your ribbon!

I love how this is processed. Perfect that the one kids' intense animated face is right in the foreground. It gives such a sense of emotion to the insanity of that event :) Nice job.

They do this in my home town as well, except the lake is frozen over so they have to cut a hole in the ice and plunge in one by one. In either case, I think I wuld rather be taking the photo! Speaking of which, really love the varied expressions and the colors! Great job. 9

Nice photo of the event, with some interesting processing to cause a plastic like effect. I'm not sure I see the celebration here.
