Locals shake their heads at those who venture out when the lake only has 4 inches of ice (later in the winter it will freeze to a 16 inch thickness). I stayed on shore and used a long lens, enjoying the light and the contrast of lake ice with the trees. On seeing this image, one person said her husband has a fish-finder just like the one used by the further away guy on the right. Wasn't obvious to my uneducated eye. Learn something new every day.

Nice scene. I think I would have focused more on the dad/son doing something together instead of the dad walking away and the random guy watching.
