This is my wonderful daughter who kindly agreed to do the shoot. I wanted a balloon floating up and away from her, but it was too windy. Everytime she held one out, it went way too horizontal before going vertical.

So we tried an experiment. Instead of holding it out, hold it down, at the base of the balloon and down at your side. This is what happened when she let go. At first we both laughed at the shot: "It looks like you're having a conversation with it." Shortly after, we decided that "the conversation" had to be entered, even if there were something better. Actually, this was my favorite by far.

Thanks for the great comments!! I know it's a ridiculous amount of negative space, but it really felt right to me.

Congratulations Wendy! I really like the negative space, it adds a lot to the photo imho, by depicting "them" alone in their world, having their conversation. Very good work.

Nice comp. I could do a hot air joke, but I won't. Really like this. ETA- I like how you waited till after sunset. The simplicity is very nice. Just you and your thoughts.

Very crisp and beautifully composed silhouette along with some very appealing colors make this an excellent image. This is certainly a big contender for the this challenge. 9/10.

This composition would work okay for stock photography because you've left lots of area for text. For this challenge, though, it seems like there's too much empty frame that draws my attention away from the nicely backlit balloon.

I"m generally a fan of negative space, but this feels a bit too indulgent. And her posture is a bit stiff for me. But it's a great silhouette!
