 This occured to me while we were shopping for supplies for me to move into my dorm next week, hence the title. I attempted to take some indoors later because I wanted to even out the "Accent", but I couldn't get even lighting so this was it.

White posterboard, natural light of setting sun (in shade).

Edit: OneStepPhotoFix, Brightness +33, Contrast +16, Saturation +17, Brightness +26, Contrast +16, Resize, Unsharp Mask.

So, am I right in guessing that it didn't do very well because I over-contrasted it? (Well and the other issues that I already knew and tried to fix, but couldn't.)

This needs a quick run through Neat Image, there's visible grain in the shadows. I like the soft focus.
