 I pretty much had this idea from the get go. I printed out an enlarged section of a periodic table. I then used a highlighter to color in the neon element square. This was a bit tricky because if I wasn't carefull the highlighter would smear.

Post Processing:
Crop
Auto Leves,Contrast,Color
Then I played with
Hue/Saturation
Levels
Color Balance
Curves
Brightness/Contrast
to get the effect that I wanted. The effect was that the neon yellow really stood out more from the background, this proved harder than I thought originally but I am happy with the results.

Very unique take on this challenge. Hitting the Periodic Table of Elements is an excellent choice. I also like the use of the highlighter to bring out the subject.
