Challenge: Neon (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel

Taken just a few hours before the challenge closed, I got the idea from my 2 year old son.

He fell down outside playing and had to get a band-aid for his knee. We got these unbelivable neon band-aids, and he just could not stop looking at the knee and showins his "wounds" to everybody.

sorry about the hurt knee.but the band aids must look more neon at home than they do on this photo.

Nice clear picture. Your black background turned out really well and the foot is in good focus and the colors are great. It doesn't really have a real Neon feel to it though - the bandaid is a nice bright yellow but it really isn't the main thing that grabs your eye as you look at the photo - the foot is the main center of attention. Perhaps if you had used a neon pink or green bandaid it would have stood out more.

Kind of bright colored, maybe, but neon it ain't. Some of the colors that were produced with media other than neon lights really had that brilliant, blinding quality about them. Sorry, but this one doesn't.

Lifelike color, slightly out of fucus, good background contrast. I only rated it a "2" because it just didn't grab my attention and hold it - and the neon was both weak and "a band aid?" Might go good with a drug store ad though. Sorry. Just my opinion.

Neon? The yellow on that bandaid doesn't look like neon or day-glo to me. It's a rather muted and pale lemon color.

Returned to edit critique....

I like the lighting on the foot and the dark background. I find the narrow, horizontal cropping a bit awkward for the subject matter which suggests a vertical format with perhaps two-thirds of the negative space leading away from the point of the foot for a more dynamic composition. I'm not sure there is enough going on here in terms of form and space to make this a really compelling photo for me.

Nice simplicity. Good cropping. Lacks DOF.
