This is my newest Tamron AF 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD with Piezo . My old newest one came a cropper in Laguna Beach again, not as herioc as saving someone life this time, more me falling down the slippery rocks on a model shoot. So Amazon to the rescue and it was with me the next day. (((Kudo's and plug for Amazon right there))

The new lens is pretty friggin awesome, really really sharp.

It is one of the best lenses I have and one of the cheaper ones to replace, so those come out surf shooting with me. Occasionally I bring out the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM, but it is several years old now and getting a little slower and softer at the high end.

I appreciate all your votes and comments, I know I had just won with the other surf shot, so for this to do well was amazing.

(Unless you are the crapola voters that gave it 1-3's!) lol

I love this for it's color and outright "love" of the sport and then of course the composition. Amazing. I just need to ask exactly what is going on here? It looks like the wave is towering over and behind him, but he's actually on the wave. How did this happen? How is it there is water going higher than the swell he's on?

The upper portion of the wave took me awhile to figure out for some reason. My eyes kept telling me it was the sky, and I couldn't figure out how that was legal. I see it now, but wow, that's still screwing with my head!

Love your surf shots Juliet. Would love to know what lenses you use on your shots. All images show they are taken with the 18-270 tamron but I'm guessing this is not the case. Please update this information for those of us interested in lenses used. Cheers

Thanks for the info Juliet. Had thought that you would use the 70-200 2.8 for your work but the tamron must be a nice lens as i see you use it often.
