Challenge: Without the Hand of Man (Classic Editing)
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Date: Dec 15, 2002
Aperture: 2.1
ISO: 250
Shutter: 1/60
Galleries: Abstract, Nature
Date Uploaded: Dec 15, 2002

Taken, after dark, as I was going through an ATM on Leestown Road in Lexington, Ky. LOW flash, focal length 14.4 MM. Cropped to 10 X 20 inches. Auto levels in PS Elements 2. Sized image to 600 on long edge. Sized canvas to 640 on long edge to create a white border. Mode changed to grayscale. Sharpened with sharpen filter. I know image is hot up front to but it is meant to help accentuate the starkness of winter.

Looks pretty grainy, but even so, I really liked it, I gave you a 10. Thought it would have done much better!

I'm not sure what happened here.. the image quality is fairly poor. The 'without the hand of man' concept in this shot may have been damaged by the camera flash... - setzler

Well, it's low res and it seems like you used the flash, but I like the composition around these two trees. It has a kind of ghostly charm that works for me! You did well with what must be some limited equipment. Worth a highish score.

This looks really pixeled to me for some reason. The use of black and white is a good choice, and I like the angle and framing/cropping you have chosen, with the trees off to the right side. It just looks really square, with those "jaggies" (I think that's what they are called) Good luck in the challenge.

An interesting shot/composition... but it looks like something funky happened in the processing. Perhaps it was oversharpened, or despecled a little too much for my tastes.

Interesting view, but very grainy on my monitor. The tree trunks seem more dotted than hard edges. 7 Swash

Would be a perfect 10 if you could have isolated the light to just the trees with a soild background. The grass makes for some distration in the lower left of the frame.

I know you are working in low light but it appears that there are JPEG artifacts or something at the bottom of the trunks. DPz

Looks like poor picture quality... I do like the layout of this shot, and I like the size, the border could have been slightly thinner though I think.

Its grainy/pixelly. It looks like that might have been a delibrate effect, but I think it would be better without it.
