My local Club had a subject of fragments and I thought a jigsaw puzzle fit the challenge well. I liked the idea of someone holding a piece in their hand and the eye is such a strong part of a portrait image that I think it works well (The image for the club was done in a one hour rush to get it entered). I managed an honor for the local club and and was thinking how cool it would be if I could use that image at DPC if only there was an expert editing challenge. 5 weeks later and here it is...YAY. This is the Club image I'm excited that this image has done so well. Thanks for the votes and comments.
I shot and edited this the night before rollover (rolls at 2.00pm here in OZ). Wishing I had smoothed the edges of the puzzle but apart from that I'm happy with the image.

Congratulations on the win! I must say, I thought I almost had it, judging by the score but in the end, this is a great photo to lose out to! Wonderful photo and great editing - difficult to compete with! :-)
I commented while voting, and still think the same about the puzzle effect, and the piece "she's holding" is corny and has fakish shadow. but hey!.. you did win and I didnt! ;) Congrats!
I have always wanted to do an edit of myself with this. Looks like a lot of fun. When the challenge is done you should do a "How'd they do that?" for the site. I think it will be a fun add.
Cool idea!, amazing clarity on the model! (and I may say she looks fantastic aswell!) ;)
But!.. the Puzzle effect is a bit too fake, with too much depth shadow, and the lines dividing are quite disturbing.
If you just had uploaded the photo without the puzzling, it would get a 8-9 from me (even not having any "Expert Editing" visible, but I believe you did a great face treatment.
Beautifully lit and framed, and a clever if not super original idea. My only knock is that the overlay of the puzzle pieces is unconvincing; If you could have shot a white puzzle, or found a graphic that was more than line and a drop shadow, it would have given this that little extra push to the top. I put this in my top five.
This idea was used many times and the result ends up looking a bit odd. There is no interest in the shape of the removed piece. An unfortunate choice of overlapping.
