Taking the photo was the easy bit and took less than 5 minutes but the processing took ages!!! (Due to my inferior skills in expert editing)
I had seen a tutorial on how to make an evil and angel split image but after the first go I didn't like the look of it so I tried again, about 2 hrs of tweaking and i hit the SFW button and my comp crashed, AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

I started again and decided to just improvise with the skills I had just learnt and I was initially going to make her look like a vampire but I liked the textured look so around 2 hrs later I arrived at the sickly looking shot.

I hope it doesn't bomb against all the Photoshop wizards who will no doubt be entering this challenge.

Texture - moss covered flag stone.

Process image of model and flag stone in Lightroom 3.
Process model in Portrait Pro.
PSE8 desat skin with sponge tool, layer the eyes in overlay mode to give them an injured look, Layer eye lid in soft light and brush to appear sore. Adjust skin tone with adjustment layer Hue/sat Add a texture to a new layer (Soft Light) and erase areas the texture was not wanted. Burn shadows at 60%. Create a new layer in overlay mode and burn in tears running down the face, and finally SFW.

I'm sure those who know what they are doing could probably knock better up in 10 minutes but none the less I'm happy with my effort.

I think the processing is very well done. You have a great point of view and the eyes are incredible. One thing that I struggled with while working on my unsubmitted photo for this challenge was the blending of the texture with the skin. I think I am seeing the same thing here... I struggled with getting a good look around the transition of the jaw line to the neck and areas like that on the face including the lips and nose. I think there should be a very thin shadow under the jaw line that acts to separate the jaw from the neck. There should not be any texture going through the shadow line and the pattern at the neckline should not match with the pattern on the jaw. You have done a nice job on your texture at that point. (Sorry for being long winded...)

was the skin disease applied all over necessary here? I personally do not think so (unless it was a piece for a medical journal). The effect just at the eyes would have been enough and convey the emotion, now it's uniform and mechanical and lost the effect. The portrait would have been great.

Beautiful eyes, love the clarity. Very creepy. Well done!

The "sickness" runs over the top of the necklace and doesn't separate where the jawline and neck converge. Makes it less believable but kudos for creativity!

This is really cool! You nailed the eyes, and I like the texture on the face. The only problem I have with this is that the texture layer on the face makes the picture look kind of flat. The shading of the texture doesn't quite match the shading on the face. Still, this is a powerful shot, well done!
