One of my very favorite things ... my gardens, and the butterflies and other bugs that come to visit in summertime. One of the little kids in the neighborhood has nicknamed my house The Butterfly House :-)

So B&W would seem an odd choice, but I liked it better than the color version. Some of the flowers are looking a little brownish just now. This way people can imagine pretty summer colors.

I just noticed it looks like a very large ghost is peering around the corner of the house ... that's interesting =:-o

PP - cropped, levels, duotone, tonemapped in qtpfsgui (pregamma 0.697, mantiuk method, contrast mapping 0.1, saturation factor 1.029, detail factor 1), erased background and lightened and merged with original, dodged/burnt butterfly, resized, sharpened, blurred background more, added border.

Almost missed the butterfly...

Nice Butterfly bush with Tiger Swallowtail. It might have been neat to have at least some of the flowers/butterfly in color to stand out against all of those leaves.

Not the obvious choice to think low contrast desat- but I like the softness it adds, and it makes the blurred background special.
