I am happy that this placed the best for me in a long time; but I am more happy that people liked it enough to comment on it.

This is my wife's cousins dog, Boomer, a Great Dane, asleep on the pool deck. - that is the reason for the wet spots. She is a great Dog, and she is massive, this shot is actually a big chunk of the deck. I liked the shot in Color, but the textures were better and the wood was a bit less distracting in desat. The border was in and then out and I thought ultimately it added balance to the like dark stripy quality of the dog.

What says home like a tired dog just sleeping wherever it wants, in this dogs case. Thank you again for all the comments.

Awww...this is sweet. Looking back, gave it an 8 in voting. I bet it was nice in color as you say, but I think you made the right choice for this site. Beautiful!

I love the (as if) dead weight of Boomer plastered to the deck, wood and tiger stripes, almost mounted, a plaque, a trophy, but of course not, just a wonderful being there.

I was going to call the shot "dead dog deck" but I didn't want people to get the wrong Idea.

THere is pathos and skill in this image.
Lovely B/W work just drawing in detail.
I am not sure about the Dark borders, but that is subjective. Best luck in the challenge

Great shot, I can imagine him laying there chasing rabbits in his dreams. (I'm presuming him, please excuse if it's a girl)

Aww, rustic, textured. I like how you cropped the photo/framed with the black.
