Canon 40D with 100mm macro lens

Oil and Water combined with one of my favorite subjects, the American Flag. I realize some people don't like borders, but I believe they add to this photo.

I want to thank everyone for the nice comments. This the first photo I have entered at DP Challenge and I knew that water and oil have been done a lot, so it did about as expected. I have done a lot of shots with water and the flag in the past and this challenge gave me an excuse to try it with oil and I was very pleased with the outcome. In fact, I will be experimenting with different types of oil in the future to see if it changes the properties of the circles. The choices of backgrounds and lighting are endless.

I don't normally like shots like this, but this is like a new flag that I like better than the old one.

A DPC cliche shot for sure. Nothing wrong with that, though. Expecting to see this in the top 10.

Wonderful droplet refractions. I love how they are all a bit ( or a lot ) different from one another.

I"m definitely going to have to try oil drops. Isn't it strange how they all become perfect circles?

The more I see photographs with this kind of (oil?) drops, the more I ask myself how one has to proceed to get them all in such a perfect rounded shape.
