For the two who wonder about the frog's position/health, I assure you that I have never once done anything like refrigerate etc a frog or toad to get them to hold still or go into hibernation, etc. There's actually no need to. Frogs in general, when a bright light is shown at them (as my studio lights were) freeze. It's why folks are able to go frog-gigging... they freeze with the light and the people stick them with something and eat them. (I've never seen it done, actually, so don't know what they stick them with.)

I rescued this very healthy guy from my pond filter, plopped him down right there, shot him and then put him outside in a pond. All is well.



I agree that the feet seem unnatural, he is much younger/smaller than my usual models... but use this for reference. I think they just do that:
