Well, about an hour to go and this shot has been better received than I would have ever thought. Thanks everyone for the lovely comments.

This is Clyde, one of my family’s four cats (and yes, my family knew of my bad allergy to cats before begging and pleading for them). Mind you, we’ve always had cats and I do love them. Love dogs too but unfortunately our two dogs past away of very old age in the last couple of years.

I had not planned to enter this challenge and had just taken my shot for the Stripes Challenge when Clyde started knocking on the door (literally, he uses his head!). I still had the camera in my hand when I went to let him in but decided to keep him outside once I saw the photo opportunity. Hadn’t done that to him before hence his look. I liked the shot but didn’t think it would go down too well with the challenge and almost didn’t enter it. I’m really glad I did now.

Unfortunately, after downloading the images I picked up my camera to return the memory card and got the strap caught on the corner of the desk and dropped it. I managed to catch the camera but my 50mm lens hit the desk and broke in two. I know it’s only a cheap lens but it’s the only lens I have ever bought and it was a gift from my family for Father’s day less than a year ago. So I’m quite sad to lose the lens but glad to see its last photo was appreciated by so many here, and because it was its last photo this is why I entered the challenge.

By the way, the lovely L lens on my profile is a loaner from a close friend so I don’t have the same emotional attachment. I have not taken a single photo since and so for the first time in a long time I haven’t got a shot coming up for judging – bye bye update button!

Sorry about your lens. This was awesome, glad it did well, it reminded me of a shot i took of my kitty in the POV challenge.

I've just been browsing the images in order of how they placed, and I feel as though this image should have been at least 10-15 places higher. It is well shot and fitting of the challenge. It's an interesting composition with great colors.

My 50mm broke into two pieces when it hit the floor. I carefully put it back together again and still use it. The autofocus isn't as auto as it once was, but the lens still shoots just fine. You may want to see what you can do with it! Oh, and I love the shot, too. Thanks for the story behind it as well!

This looks like I need to be turned upside down to look at this correctly. Lol. I love the colors and the bokeh on the floor. Well done.
