I did this for my niece awhile ago .. it's just one layer and then I erased part of it to make her eyes pop .. so simple compared to what you all do .. I sure would like to learn how to make the kind of layered shots I have been looking at all day. Especially the moody, quirky ones, mad genius ones .. but I doubt if I will get to that point.

Aww thanks for the nice comments - I am working on something .. trying to develop my dark, scary side photographically as it sure lives in me given my choice of films, books and old TV shows :)

Beautiful face. I love how the texture layer looks like a headdress.

Hey you're doing pretty good. This one gives an ancient Egyptian feel, Cleopatra?

Cool framing. The warm tones really are quite pleasing.

Just keep practicing and experimenting. You're off to a great start! That's how I figured it all out. Flickr has all kinds of "textures" groups that are full of textures and info.

hee hee - this has that sense of surrealism. Lady in a box. I like it. Nice going. Just keep playing. You'll get like me and spend hours on one image. LOL

Simple is good! I love how you've placed the portrait in the overlay such that the grungy type part almost looks like an Egyptian headdress. Very very cool! Portrait is beautiful, by the way, and her eyes certainly do pop :-)
