Yeah, more cats...
I rescued a litter of 5 four-week old kittens a in the first week of June. They are now happy, healthy little hellions! This is Me'Shell, the one girl of the group.

Original Image:

Processing in CS5:

- I shoot raw, so on the raw image I added a bit of fill light and recovered the blown highlights a bit when opening in Photoshop

- Ran the Nik Color Efex Tonal Contrast filter then reduced opacity to blend with original. This particular filter tends to enhance noise, but since I'm overlaying textures anyway that is not a big concern.

- I like bright eyes, so I copied the eyes and pasted into a new layer set to screen mode, then reduced opacity to 35%

- Applied below layer in multiply mode, 73% opacity

- Applied below layer in screen mode, 100% opacity. Resized layer to fit image, since layer is square and image is not. Rotated it 180 degrees. Masked out some of the watermarks around her paws.

- Copied all to a new later with the GREAT keyboard shortcut ctrl + shift + alt + e

- resized

- ran Nik Sharpener Pro output filter in its default setting, then reduced opacity of the layer to 27%

- save for web

ETA: although I did name Me'Shell after a character in the movie Dodgeball, as a serious Beatles lover I sing 'Michelle ma belle' to her almost every morning when I greet her...

Gorgeous kitty, and beautiful image. I see that Judy has beaten me to the Michelle, ma Belle connection, which will also be playing in my head for the day. Lucky I don't mind the song.

You are one of my heroes and I don't know you from a hole in the wall but ppl who rescue these little precious beasties play such an important role in making this world better - thank you.

Now about your photo .. what a lovely job - as others have said, she looks like she is either inside something or behind an old window .. I love how you kept her face clear of the payer, esp the beautiful catch light in her eyes. Hope to see more :)
