 Thanks to my wife for the suggestion and for making the salad.

Here's Emeril Lagasse's recipe. She didn't follow it exactly, but pretty close. She used cherry tomatoes and added cucumber & feta cheese.


Shot outdoors on an overcast day on my deck under a canopy. Used a flash with a diffuser and shot into a white umbrella.

I've always been fascinated by good food photography, and always wanted to try it. This isn't good, but I had fun trying.

I predict a top 50 finish.

A slightly larger dof where the whole finished dish is in the focus field but the ingredients in the background are out of the focus field would have made this one a little better.

Had to look up what panzanella was.Thought it looked like toasted bread cubes. Betcha this is quite yummy. Pleasing image overall. Good use of bokehed props. Has a slight tilt that is a bit odd but not a big issue. Bumping up 1.

I like how it's exotic sounding food, on an obvious picnic table. The ingredients in the background are great, and it looks more artsy with a sense of space instead of a menu photo.

Great presentation of this salad - bringing our eyes to the feast with the main course set before us with mouthwatering detail. Crisp greens of cucumber, vibrant reds with the cherry tomatoes and rich & toasty browns of the bread cubes - it looks delicious! The backdrop for this dish makes it look warm and inviting - a summer picnic.

I'd never heard of that til I watched a Giada DeLaurentis episode of everyday Italian. Then Rachel Ray made her version. Whatever you did, it looks delicious. Man, am I hungry now. :)
