An ant's antennae are used primarily to "smell", but also are used to touch and communicate. And it's such a tiny little thing! I just realized this essentially doesn't meet the challenge, which says to depict "one" of the senses... I doubt that will be this entry's only downfall, however.

Fascinating little guys to watch. These are ants at my new house, as opposed to the ants recently entered in a challenge who were from my old house. In reading about ants, I discovered that apparently if you take the mass of all the ants in the world, it equals or exceeds the mass of all the humans. They'll take over... mark my words! :-)

Crop, levels, resize, sharpen.

In response to Tanguera's comment: If I were to do for ants what Wendy does with squirrels, they'd have to score at least a full point and a half higher. Ants will never be the next DPC thing if left to me, sad to say.

Equally sadly, no one ever reads my little stories that go with my entries. On the plus side, I never remember what I write so I can use these as little memory joggers, yes?

Sad. Just plain sad.

What was I saying... ?

that 5.3 moniker is proving to be prophetic. this was terribly underrated i love the dof here and the foreground texture.

Fun take on the Challenge and the short DOF works nicely here.

Good composition and focus. I'd crop some of the out of focus foreground out as well as about half the flower... the ants are overpowered but these strong elements.

It would have been neat if you could have somehow placed the ants on the flower, since they are a little hard to see when you first see the picture. Insects are not always cooperative though.

This is such a magnificent image, Deb. You will do for ants what Wendy does for skwirrels.

If only the antennae were more clear... The soft shades of the flower add a nice dimension.
