First ribbon! This was so unexpected! Thanks yall!

[Jul. 27th, 2011 08:07:33 AM]

I had a somewhat frustrating time with this shot. My room is very small so there's not much room for anything other than the piano and my bed. I tried a few angles that just were not working so I knew I'd have to put the tripod on the bed. So now every time I took a shot I had to crawl to the middle of the bed to check it...thus changing the composition, focus, etc.
Did this last minute so I'd like to try again with a smaller light. I used my headlamp (smallest thing I could find) and you can see blurs of it here and there. other than that I am pleased with how well it's doing! 6.85 on day three (fingers crossed for a PB!)

Well I basically just painted with the head lamp. I spent the first 15 seconds just running the light (turned away from the camera) over the keys and hammers in order to accent them. Then I turned the light towards the camera and did the bouncing motions you see. I had this vision of the middle C key exploding into it's hammer so that's why there is so much going on in the middle... didnt really work haha. as far as the aperture, iso, etc; you can just look at the photograph info next to the description. we all put that info on during upload. thanks for all the nice comments!

So far, this is definitely the best use of a non-stationary light source.

This reminds me of that photographer who used to attach lights to the hands of fast workers then photograph them in the dark to figure out how they were moving to be so efficient.
