I believe this is a baby Eastern Painted Turtle, Chrysemys picta subspecies picta. Rescued from certain death in the middle of the road; too small to climb the curb. Now residing in a nice private pond.

p.s. took forever to get him(?) in the right position... tended to give me the back end more often than the front end! ;-)

I can't understand the low scores for this, maybe some people thought it wasn't macro enough. I thought this was going to be in the top 10.

So glad you rescued him! And what a delightful portrait as well. I especially love the bubbles clinging to his shell. How did you light this?

Very cool and interesting. I like how the greenish tint to the background adds to the continuity of the image.

I like this. Love the turtle and creative to drop him/her into the breaker.

This made me laugh - the turtle actually looks annoyed! His head caught my eye, then I was able to look closer at his body, the bubbles, the beaker, etc. Nice job. 8
