This is the lower falls in Yellowstone National Park. I am really glad that there are many trees around this waterfall because it puts the size of this thing in perspective. My favorite of course is the lone tree in the far right of the photograph.
The water was coming down pretty hard that a 2.5-sec exposure gave me a super silky smooth effect.

Ohmyheavens! This photo makes me want cry... Seriously. I don't know that I've ever seen a more majestic photo! That anyone could have given this less than a 10 is beyond me!
Great shot! Going to be there in August. Excited!!!
That is great, Doc! I'm sure you will love it. My stay here has been much longer that I thought it would be mainly because I can't get over the beauty in this area. IMHO, Grant Teton blows Yellowstone out of the water by a mile. Of course, it's not really fair to compare the two. YS is known for its geysers and hydrothermal activities while GT for its breathtaking mountains and sceneries.
What an absolutely deserving shot for the blue ribbon!! Yellowstone is an absolutely magical place and you've done an excellent job of capturing one of it's crown jewels! Congrats!
What an incredible scene! Thanks for sharing with us all these wonderful places across the world, photos after photos. And congratulations on your ribbon of course :-)
In my experience it is quite rare to capture the grandeur of such a scene but you've done it. The trees help the scale but I think it's the light and well managed processing to let it glow, so to speak, that makes it work. The long exposure and misty air add an atmospheric perspective that clinches it. Nearly a perfect 10.
I just can't get my head around the scale of this - the sense of vastness of the falls provided by the trees is incredible. Like something from another world.
