I'm flabbergasted that so many people have commented that this does not meet the challenge! The figures are VERY obviously toy soldiers rather than real ones and as such it's simply not necessary to provide an additional element just to give scale - we all know the scale of toy soldiers!

A little noisy, but very interesting

Looks like you spent a lot of time setting this up. I really like it. It does seem a tiny bit grainy, but it sorta makes it look hazy or smokey from the guns. Great job.

I realy like this picture, the brown sepia sets the mood of the mud. I just think that more thought should of gone in the background. Still like it though

I like the colout tone in this photo. It is much like the colour used in photos and film of that era. Good scene. Good idea not to show faces - would probably be too toy-like.

incredible work. you would do well to either burn out the background behind the soldiers or to add an intentional mock-up forest or something

great picture, I really like it. But no scale to compare to. Plus whats going on in the background? I would have croped the top. But thats just me. thx

I wonder how it would look with the camera placed at the soldiers heads height? maybe more realistic! anyway I like it a lot!

Isn't it sad that so many soldiers gave their lives back then because they believed it would be the war to end all wars. What would they think of their descendants if they could see the world now? Nicely done with good composition, good attention to depth and good choice of toned black and white. 8

Excellent composition and creation of the set for this image. Realistic looking, and emotive. Great detail and focus, and attention to the little things! This is a ribbon winner, in my opinion!
