Thanks for the nice comments.

I noticed while pouring through the square crop challenge that a square crop is much more than a framing device. It can be used to draw your eye straight forward into the image, with little interest in panning from side to side. I thought it would work well to add height to what my wide angle would already tweak into a apparent great drop. I'm glad it had a bit of success.

If I had been more intelligent (oh if I had a dime for every time I started a statement like that) I would have aimed lower and cropped my legs out in processing instead of with the actual camera frame. This would have helped with distortion.

Also, I should have taken more than one shot. I'm interested to see what it would have looked like with legs in the frame, but I'll have to hike back up there to find out.

great idea, Scott! I am thinking that also the low sun behind you helps to make this work - because it translates into a high sun above you in the "apparent" composition.

it was an eight from me - I just read your notes too.... isn't it amazing how sometimes we just get an idea, take a quick shot and it turns out so well! And then other times... well I won't get it into that :). But I seriously don't think you could have planned this better.
Congrats on the high placement!!!

One of my favorites, I gave this an 8. I really liked the POV and I think this should have placed in the top 3. Great concept too!

Captivating and imaginative image. 8. Title... uuh. (I haven't a clue what "base jumping" might be.)
