Beautiful image. The colour, lighting, DOF and composition are all beautiful. The border works well too. This image has a luxurious feel about it. The texture in the foreground works so well against the softened background. Well Done.

i like the way the piece at the front is in focus while the pieces farther back are slightly blury and out of focus it is a nice effect!

forgive me for being dense, but i'm not sure how this meets the challenge. this seems to be more of a macro shot than a miniature (but then, maybe i need someone to explain it to me). good focus, use of short dof.

ok, i 'get it'...it has been explained to me. i can say, 'it meets the challenge.' compare the picture to the chess piece that is in focus.

not well composed. If we are supposed to see the castle on the board as taking up that space, it should be in focus.

No frame of reference. Compose and photograph something "miniature" in such a way that it conveys to the viewer that the subject of your photo is a tinier version of something that is normally larger.
