For the challenge I tried something new, well for me, this is a first insect macro and i'm quite happy with it. It will be voted low by experts but I don't really care.

This is a decent attempt. I guess when a challenge has a lot of one type of picture, the ones that are just decent are not going to fair as well. Needs better focus to become outstanding. The color looks off. Try not to use too much neat image. I do like the composition.

For some reason, my eyes feel more drawn to the orange part of the flower vs the bee. You did an excellent job with the composition and DOF is also good. I like how I can still make out the background as flowers but enough details are lost so they are not distracting. I think you also used a bit too much compression or maybe it's just noise.

the bokeh in your shot is really nice. overall a pretty good shot. one minor thing. the bee looks a little greenish in hue.

I think this is the best composition I've seen so far in this macro challenge. I really love the way you balanced the shot. the colours are amazing. Also, I like that you move the eye from the bee to the background rather than having the bee look straight at you. I find it amazing that this is your first macro shot. You obv. have a knack for this. I'm giving it a 10. I wonder if people will mark you down (just subconsciously) for saying it's your first macro though. I once put something similar in my title (I think I said unedited) and got totally burned. one guy said he marked me down for ruining my title. Hope that doesn't happen to you. This is a ribbon shot if i ever saw one.

Good focus and dof on your first insect macro! For me it adds to the appeal of the image if I can see the face/front of the head.

First, eh? NOW you're hooked! If you did this well on your premiere, how great will your next one be? The one after that? A year from now???

There is some doubt in my mind what the subject is ... Bug or Flower. The petals are the most accurately focused. My suggestion would be to be sure your intended subject is most accurately focused. Otherwise a very nice capture with good colors, comp, levels and contrast. Blurred background via DOF works well.

O.k. your first, but that does not affect my votes. You might try it from the other side next time, include the eyes for more interest.

Great colours and pretty sharp but for a great bug macro you really need to see the eyes of the insect.
