 At first I was trying to make an image showing how dull and boring American money is compared to the money from every other country I've been to. But I couldn't capture the difference in quality that you feel when you hold it in your hand.

So here is a single U.S. quarter lost in a sea of Euro coins, British coins, and Swiss coins. Can you see it?

Lighting: a Mag-Light flashlight and a white-LED flashlight (provides a very much bluer light for interesting highlights), with some ambient light provided by the ceiling lamp.

The background is black velvet, and I took the shot with a Nikkor 50mm/1.8D lens on a 12mm extension ring.
