the strong geometrical elements (the zigging contrail, the phallic sun reflection, the sunburst), combined with surprising chaotic textures, create a flatness that revives the standard beach shot.

This is beautiful. Everything inhabits just half of the frame, and yet it must have the other half in order to breathe. The photograph lives right in the rarefied zone between literalism and impressionism; I half close my eyes and it teeters toward the figurative, open them again and it eases me back toward the reassuringly corporeal. Very fine and satisfying picture and in my top 3 for this challenge. Thank you.
