Shoot during a street scene on location in So Cal. Used a paper drape to add paint and newspapers, grabbed an umbrella with news printing and a funky model to stomp thru the image. Shot on the street with street lamp lighting and strobe.

@Comments: This was staged on a street corner using the light from a street light(I can provide the cropped edges to show this). No doubt, it looks staged, because it was. But, using a street light as the main light source, on location, at night, outdoors, and making it look artsy? This was my task. Sorry if I disappoint.

I'm not normally into staged shots but this one is great, out of the ordinary, strong sense of fun and technically well done. Pity about the disqualification but who cares, good creative image :(

you have a good sense of humor and I will skip the vote because I like the picture!

This is rather amazing, and it's certainly THE photo that stands out from the bunch.....
HOWEVER.. Whilst the photo itself is as amazingly taken, great composed, perfectly lighted as it is..... Perhaps from a personal point of view, I would have liked to have seen more on top of the umbrella.
It feels like the shot just 'ends' there, but it gives me the feeling that there is more to be seen..
Save from that little nudge, the image itself is as close to a perfect example as it can get.
10.

Wow, a nearly square format image! Like from a Rolleiflex? More like a studio photograph, than a street, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, based on degree of interest.

If this was really one the street it would be good, however, it looks like it is in the studio. To me this is not street photography, of course I could be wrong, but if it was on the street it would be especially interesting to see something of that too.

No challenge details means no DNMC to me. What a fun and quirky idea to show the sense of street in a home portrait studio setting.

Very abstract. Cool pose.

My pick for the bluey, very creative shot.

A bit out of the ordinary doing a studio shot for a street challenge. The fact that I can see behind the backdrop is distracting.

This is great! I love it!

Looks staged. To me street photography is candid

Studio street photography?
02/16/2011 12:47:04 AM
How is this street photography? Looks totally posed and carefully lit. Might even be in a studio. Wonderful shot. However, to give this a high vote would be unfair to everyone else who went out and actually did street photography. Sorry.
